This was the shortest of side trips.  We were visiting family Northwest of Las Vegas.  The clouds looked decent, so we decided to explore for sunset.  I picked “towards Red Rock Canyon.”

We managed to get all the way to the 13-mile Red Rock Canyon loop, but lost daylight very quickly after.  Unfortunately we had no time for hiking or even seeing much of the latter part of the loop.  I got a few shots from the Calico Hills at the beginning of the drive, and then we hung out at the High Point Overlook for sunset.

Detail of the last bit of sunlight on the multi-colored Calico Hills, as well as the trailhead for one of the many hiking options at Red Rock Canyon.

And some sunset views from High Point Overlook.

We’ll have to explore a bit further next time!
