When we started planning our summer road trip we had a plan to drive from Texas to California, up the coast to Washington, visit the San Juan islands and then somehow make it down to Crater Lake National Park, which we had not visited since our 4-month road trip in 2009.

I finally caught up on some of my American the Beautiful coin art projects so I convinced Travis it was time to visit another! We decided on a weekend trip to North Carolina, mostly to drive the Blue Ridge Parkway. We also stopped through Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The Tioga Pass was finally open, and we were excited to see the parts Yosemite which had eluded us on all our previous trips.
